The level of silliness has to get quite high before a Community Team member will even *request* it stops, and even higher before an actual moderation action. It's so much easier for the thread to carry on than it is for the small group of volunteers who have authority and access to the list configuration to take that step, especially when there isn't clear guidance for them on what is acceptable.
