Of course, I made such test before posting; it gave no desired effect, even
if I gave the permissions a+rwx to /var/lib/xkb

How come? I made a copy with "-a" flag. Even more: the COPY is the one,
which is working with no problems; but the "original" fails.

Tested it with both kernels 2.6.38.1 and newest 3.5 - one machine works with
no problems whatsoever, while the other one has some permission-related
problems (it seems so). But it's different hardware, then I suppose, that
the system is trying to do something, and it fails.
