I think this means your Scripts/Compile are much older than your
Freshen and will need to be upgraded first. It's actually a bug in its
detection of whether that's happened, but what you need is a
post-Aliens (c. 2010) version of the tools.

As far as working goes, I don't know of anything that would have
broken it, but when there are large numbers of upgrades from a long
period to apply it tends to cause other things to break if you tell it
to install them. It should definitely list updates, and even install
them if you're careful.
