Terminal issue

Hi, 

As a result of recent (mis)adventures, 
the terminal emulation is wrong, e.g.
Ctrl-H doesn't backspace.

I tried 'reset' and found that terminal
types 'linux' 'vt100' 'VT100' etc.
weren't found.

My best guess was to look for libtermcap,
but it's not on the iso image.

Any idea where the issue could be?
