Hmm... If you are short on time let me advice you to try
pantheon(elementary os desktop), while surely not like windows (pretty much
mac-alike), it's really great but hating as much as I do gtk and disliking
some gnome parts, it's my main desktop and the main reason I'm still in
Linux and didn't bought a Mac. Don't worry, in less than an hour you'll
know pretty much how to use it by yourself :P.
