You're a bit wrong; Gobo is not trying to be another pretty face. In fact,
if I were to choose, the next release would ship with something as simple
as WindowMaker and nothing else. We don't have enough man power to focus on
GUI stuff and there's plenty of fundamental building blocks that have
higher priority over fluffy features. Having said that, it is likely that
in the near future the distro will be more research-oriented. Putting up a
polished and modern GUI with all the plumbing needed by ConsoleKit, Polkit,
and friends takes more time than setting up the base packages alone.
