There seems to be serious issues with the installation of some packages from the Base profile -- I see packages in Packages-List-Base.squashfs that for some reason are not being installed by the Typical profile. The easiest workaround, if you truly do not want to use the Full profile, is to launch the Installer, then select Typical. Next, click on 'Satisfy Dependencies' and finally select the Nettle and MtDev packages from the list. That should give you a working desktop environment with mouse support. Please note that what you'll get will be the TWM Window Manager (as opposed to the one available in the LiveCD environment). My suggestion for you is to go with the Full profile and then simply remove the stuff you don't want from /Programs. It looks like the ISO has not been tested enough before its release -- sorry about that. Please let me know if this helps you fix the problems on your side.
