I think I've exhausted my interest in fixing GoboLinux's many problems. Here are the results of the latest experiments, as suggested by Lucas: 1. Not possible to put computer in UEFI mode, the computer is from 2006 or so and that option is not in the BIOS. 2. echo -1 > /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend had no useful effect, for all values of X from -2 to 2. In other words, keyboard is still shutting off after a few seconds. dhcpcd eth1 worked, so it is possible to get networking up. I looked around for the equivalent of /etc/rc.local, but failed to find a place to put that command so that the computer would automatically have networking on boot. Lucas, thanks for your time, and good luck with GoboLinux. Bill Dudley This email is free of malware because I run Linux.
