I also saw this on reddit. It's both cool and strangely scary
at the same time (to me).

Scary that someone wants to do so in shell scripts :)

Awesome that it is (and can be done).

I myself use bash mostly as a "glue" towards my ruby scripts. zsh
is the better shell but I have settled for bash mostly due to
simplicity and of course me being lazy. If I need functionality
I'd never use shell scripts (aside from any legacy reasons); I'd
use ruby. Same for GUIs, where I would use ruby-gtk normally
(though the bindings are not that great, but the biggest advantage
is that I don't have to invest too much time into any of it).

GoboLinux has AbsTK which I felt was a nice idea (
https://github.com/gobolinux/AbsTK )

Write once; get everything. :P

Like ... have code work for ... terminal, including ncurses, and some kind
of GUI (no matter which one or what).
