I would like to start by thanking you for all your help. simply copying the
partition over after installing to a USB worked. I do now however have the
problem that attempting to log into any user other then root immediately
gives an error saying that permission to access a shared library has been
denied before kicking me back to the log in screen. this issue persists
even for new users created via useradd.

I'm sure it's just that I've managed to cause an ownership/permissions
issue during the copy. I've had a look through the default groups there
doesn't seem to be an applicable one (I have activated and granted wheel
permissions which didn't help)

Both my other problems have been resolved by pretty quick fixes so I'm
hoping this will be an equally simple error on my part.

Thanks again for all your help
