because it's overloaded ( too much colors, too big in terms of how much 
interesting information would fit there ), and partly because i only 
want people to remember the rock logo and name.

i'd just reduce it to a rock linux logo in the middle of a white stripe 
fitting the screen, the white stripe being a bit broader then the rock 
logo, much like the border between the logo and the bottom in your version.

that way it'd look clean and slick, but that's only mho.
