Basically just because it's there. It links with mplayer, and according to 
xvid.org this release works with clients based on 1.0.x releases. Although 
it's marked beta it looks quite stable.
I think I'll discard this update for now and wait for the final release or 
somebody who has a use for the 1.1.0 features...
