Sounds like you selected "This is a cross-build between architectures" If this is selected, only Stages 0-1 are built. In these stages cluster builds aren't possible anyway, which might explain the weird errors you got. At least I don't know of anyone who ever tried cluster building a cross build. Please check if that option has been set.
