Hi all,

since this email contains some user experience I cc'd the ROCK user 
list.

The installed packages are from:

This laptop is the same as described in the Thread:

Is this with the battery I gave you? That would really surprise me - 
in a positive way - if it still works that well :)

I'll send you the file again - in a separate Email. You should put it 
in /lib and run "ldconfig".

Look in the control center to configure the lisa daemon, it's not done 
by default - I never use it by the way. ... I think that I also 
didn't install samba packages, so you might have limited network 
"browsing" support, but you have the CD and you can install the 
missing packages if you want. (run "mine -q | grep samba" to see if 
it's installed).

... seems like ghostscript is not properly installed or whatever.

That has probably to do with rocknet. I don't know any details. But it 
might be a hardware issue as well. (no exact idea).

? That's strange, did you try KPDF? Maybe that's related to the print 
preview of KWord (which also uses ghostview/script/...?).

Might be possible that some relevant part of the ghostscript packages 
have not been provided by the latest build (see link above).

That's still KPDF (or KGhostView) of KDE 3.3.2, KDE 3.4 has a much 
improved version of KPDF (very!! much improved).

I configured this as a "module" in the kernel, you need to load it. 
I'm not sure about the module name, but you can try
"modprobe vfat" or something. Take a look 
at /lib/modules/.../drivers/fs or sth like that, you'll find the 
kernel module there (remember to skip the ".o" extension of the 
module file when modprobing).

You probably have to run fsck manually, does it say anything about it? 
Look in the SuSE handbook for details (the handbook from the 8.0 box 
is still fine for this).

As I said, ROCK is still a child in these aspects but has some 
promising / interesting ideas. Before 2.0 ROCK was even considered to 
be a server operating system mainly and hardly had desktop packages 
at all.
