Hi all,

the 2.0.1 release of ROCK Linux will include an improved ROCK Plug
does does a few things better:

- removed double matching entries - thus a 2x speed improvement

- added caching of results - thus > 10x speed improvement of
subsequent scans with the same hardware and kernel (e.g. multiple
boots but also re-plugging devices when the system is up and running)

- fixed USB event syntesizing on big-endian machines (e.g. most
non-x86) - fixes USB detection on my iBook for devices present at
  bootup)

- fixed locking

- some other bits I forgot here

So for polishing the 2.0.1 release as good as possible some tests of
the new ROCK Plug release would be nice to shake bugs out of it
(although I think there are no new ones in it - but fixing old ones is
good, too). Just grab it's source and run make install (or Emerge the
package).

I tested the package on x86 and PowerPC w/ PCI and USB devices.

Yours sincerely,
  René Rebe
