Yes - there can and is: generic. Generic is the normal build
everything useful configuration and some kind of official ROCK Linux
distribution.

However desktop -> dRock should be better support, because it is some
sort of product here:

mine and the frontend gasgui (the one you saw during the installation)
are able to perform binary updates, incl. stuff like modified file
detection and backup.

You do not need visible version numbers for updates - can if you feel
you need, you can customize your updated packages to include an
virtual updated r1 s.th. version number.

Have I mentioned we (ROCK Linux Consulting DE) plan a commercial
binary update service code name "synchronicity".
