Hi again, Looks like I found the answer to my question - full-duplex on the 509B is indeed now supported. The file 3c509.txt included with the new 2.4.19 kernel source explains in some detail the new features added in with the v1.18c driver for the 3c509B and others. 8->> Thankyou David. Transceiver parameters '8' and '12' both enabled full-duplex according to dmesg when passed to the kernel through an append statement in lilo. However, the full-duplex light on my switch still isn't activated. 8-<< Given that the 3com 509B is pre-'N-way autonegotiation' can I expect this indicator to light? Does it indicate that full duplex is not quite operational? How can I test it and find out if it's active? bill > eth0: 3c5x9 at 0x300, 10baseT port, address 00 60 97 55 4a a1, > IRQ 5. 3c509.c:1.18c 1Mar2002 [email protected] > http://www.scyld.com/network/3c509.html > eth0: Forcing 3c5x9b full-duplex mode if_port: 12, sw_info: bf31 > eth0: Setting Rx mode to 1 addresses.
