Vincent,

Disable "HyperThreading" (aka Logical Processor) in System Setup/BIOS. See
if that resolves your issue with the: aacraid: Host adapter reset request.
SCSI hang errors.

Let us know...

I don't think it is a
- firmware backplane
- intel xeon processors
- or segate problem ...

I have following machine

- TYAN s2468GN motherboard
- 2 AMD Athlon MP 1800+ processors
- 2 x 512MB DDR266 PC2100 Kingston memory modules
- Adaptec 5400s SCSI RAID controller
- 4 SEAGATE ST318453LC disks in RAID-5 config
- SAMCHEER backplane
  SC-R34A ( http://www.samcheer.com )

and I also have this problem. The only difference is I
don't get this problem after hours ( days ) but after
minutes. For example I just have to launch a kernel
compilation , and after 2 or 3 minutes, I get this
error message.

I received, weeks ago an answer from Alan Cox saying
me it is a hardware problem , but it cannot because I
also installed w2k ( as I said it in an earlier mail )
and I don't have any problems. I copied hundreds of
mgo's data and os stay alive.

I also corresponded with Adaptec asking if an harware
incompatibility is know with Adaptec RAID Controllers
and last models of SEAGATE hard drives and it is not
at the moment.

I read days ago in this list and concerning this
problem a mail saying Alan is corresponding with
Adaptec about this problem so I also sended this mail
to alan. Maybe, we will receive a clear status from
from him about our problem ???

Thanks to all and to Alan for searching about this
problem.
vincent.
