Any resolution of PERC3/Di crashes with recent 2.4.x kernels?

I'm currently running a fully-patched RH7.0 on a PE4400 with 2 P-III CPUs (kernel 2.2.22-7.0.3smp).

I'm about to upgrade to RH7.3, the latest version of Red Hat Linux Dell recommends on the PE4400 (according to my customer rep). I'm concerned that this may lead to problems with the aacraid driver for my PERC3/Di RAID controller, as described in threads
about setting AAC_NUM_IO_FIB, hyperthreading, and recent 2.4.x kernels on this list (ref the "PE2650 / Perc 3Di crash" thread).

The basic problem here seems to be crashes with 2.4.2[12] kernels, the aacraid driver, and the PERC3/Di hardware. I can't tell from the postings if the problem only occurs with Hyperthreading or not.

Is this a fair synopsis of the problem? If so, does anyone have any clues which might point towards resolution of the problem? I'd hate to upgrade to one of these kernels if it's going to make my system unstable.

Thanks in advance for your time.
