While installing Oracle 8.1.7 client software on a Dell PowerEdge 2500 running Debian testing with kernel 2.4.25, I consistently received a fatal error from the aacraid driver and was forced to reboot the machine. The error from a root console was as follows: aacraid: Panic length of sg list is too big aacraid: Fatal Error See system event log aacraid: No Core Dump, Trace not started It then infintely prints this message about every 10 seconds: aacraid: Host adapter reset request. SCSI hang? The disk was inaccessible, therefore I could not read the event log. Is there a fix for this problem? I was looking forward to running Linux on the Dell, but I will not if it is going to be this unreliable.
