I think the 4600 PERC3/Di is an on-board raid. In other words they'd
have to send us a whole new mother board. :-( And there's no guarantee
that will fix it. I'd like to have more information to narrow the
problem down if it's available. I'm not trying to bash Dell tech
support, but so far the tech's I've talked to haven't been much help. I
asked the one I talked to today about the diagnostic boot params and
getting more detailed output from the controller and he didn't think
that was possible. The one I talked to Friday didn't understand why we
have the backplane split to distribute load across two scsi busses
instead of having all 8 disks on one bus. I figured someone here must
know what boot params the aacraid controllers can take to spit out
debugging information that might clue me or tech support in to which
component is failing.

Ask dell tech support to send you a new raid card. We had a Perc2/SC go
bad (its a megaraid card and not aacraid tho) and it would lock up
randomly, sometimes not post, print weird errors on tty1, etc...Just ask
the tech, usually they'll send you one without any problems.
