I at one time did some work on getting WPA into the driver, but I am not that good of a programmer, and don't have very much time. However, in all my research i found nothing to indicate the fact that the driver could not support WPA in software for all devices. I may be wrong on this point, however. the atmelwlandriver does not have support for all cards, but that is because they only went with hardware support. I had patches for an older version of the driver to begin bringing in support for WPA, but it was at the VERY early stages.
