I really appreciate your testing.  It's very important to have feedback
from the users before the next release is made.

I'm surprised by this question.  Suppose I tell you that the module is
called "foo".  Where would you use that information?  Do you really have
a choice which module to compile?

Actually, I tried to simplify things, but it looks like it's more
confusing for you than it was before.  That's not a good thing.

Why do you need to "look for" some module?  Do you need to copy it
manually?  Do you need to load it manually?  Where did you read that?

Could you please read the README file and let me know if it answers your
question?

Who told you to use atmel_fwl.pl?  There are absolutely no references to
"atmel_fwl" in the current sources.

Could you please give more details about "no usable interface"?  What's
"usable" for you?  What's the version of the firmware?  What does
"dmesg" show?

My guess if that the firmware doesn't get picked by udev or hotplug.
Are you using the firmware from
https://developer.berlios.de/projects/at76c503a/ ?  Did you follow the
README included with the firmware?  Where did you install the firmware?
Do you have hotplug and udev installed?  What are their versions?  What
is the distribution you are using?  Can you locate the firmware
directory on your system?
