I did not get the errors again after rebooting the system and 
replugging the device. Go figure.

I'm pretty sure that the device has an AT76C505 - not a 505A. At least, this
is what it appeared to be, judging from the FCC product photos that I looked
through when searching for a driver. 

Could you forward the patch directly to altivec87_____AT_____cox_____D__O_T___ net?
I'm in digest/text mode and the patch didn't come through right. I'll test it ASAP.
Also, I'm a C programmer, so if I can be of any help with programming, let me know.
