Re: driver compile error

I am through this compile problem now, though I still have other problem to 
struggle through. So I would like to close this thread by sharing my 
solutions, so that other linux newbies like me know how this problem can be 
solved.

The solution is actually very simple: in order to compiler the driver source 
code, we need kernel headers installed under the directory 
"/lib/modules/'uname -r'/build" points to. The kernel headers are NOT 
installed by the default installation/update process. Therefore, I had to 
choose customized installation option when I upgraded from Red Hat 7.2 to 
9.0, and selected the development package to be upgraded. ( I am pretty sure 
that updating the whole development package is an overkill, but I have no 
idea which subset of the development package is for kernel headers.) Double 
check the existence of kernel header when the installation is done.

Then the driver source code builds without error.
