My router is a Linksys BEFW11P1, with firmware version
1.1 R 04.
My other wireless card is a WPC11.

I don't believe it supports any other protocols than
802.11b:
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/datasheet/befw11p1ds.pdf
iwconfig shows that both the WPC11 and the WUSB11 are using
IEEE 802.11-DS.man iwconfig

I do not believe the BEFW11P1 (with my current firmware)
supports preamble settings. I can find nothing through
google or in my router's documentation.

I switched from 6 to 1 but observe the same behavior.

I don't believe my router lets me change transfer rates;
I think this router is pretty limited (e.g., it doesn't
let me do port forwarding for arbitrary port numbers).
When I set the WUSB11 to tx of 2M:
iwconfig wlan0 rate 2M
I get MUCH better behavior. For instance: 2% packet loss after
a ping of 40 packets.
At a rate of 5.5M, I still have problems.

Not using.
Thank you for your advice. Do you think that my
problems at higher transfer rates are due to (1) router?
(2) WUSB11 driver? (3) environment? (4) kernel (2.4.22-1)?
(5) other factors?
