I've had great success with the netgear ma101 rev B.  The only time I've
ever had problems (in ad-hoc mode) was when there was also an Orinoco
wireless card on the same ad-hoc network.  The Orinoco will tend to
change cell numbers which partitions the network.

To give you an idea, I've had ~50 netgear ma101s on at the same time, on
the same ad-hoc network for about 10 minutes (and the first ones had
been on for about 20 minutes).
