Knoppix Hints for activating - Yes I'm a newbie

I had successfully compiled and installed the driver under
Lindows/Linspire 4.5 on a computer I used to have. Am now trying to
setup Linux again on a different computer, and wanted to go with the
Knoppix distribution - in part because the new computer is actually an
old computer and Linspire crawls...

However, I don't seem to be having any luck getting my Linksys WUSB11
v2.8 device (same one I used to use before) to come up under Knoppix,
and am having equally limited success figuring out how to get the
driver to compile.

Anyone else who's been through this before and could point me in the
right direction, I'd appreciate it.
