hello

i've had some trouble installing a netgear ma 101 rev.b on my debian woody system. i'll have to admit i'm quite new to the linux world so sorry if my problem has nothing to do with driver-related problems but only with system administration. however, here the facts:

after the driver was built (following the howto) i plugged in the card an watched what dmesg would tell me:

hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 4
usb.c: USB device 4 (vend/prod 0x864/0x4102) is not claimed by any active driver

it seemes that hotplug didn't know what to do with the adapter. lesse what cat /var/log/messages told me:
.
Oct 1 19:52:19 elfa kernel: usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 2, frame# 1394
Oct 1 19:52:19 elfa kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number
4
Oct 1 19:52:19 elfa kernel: usb.c: USB device 4 (vend/prod 0x864/0x4102) is not claimed by any active driver.
Oct 1 19:52:19 elfa /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 864/4102/100

at least i know now that it's really a netgear ma101 rev.b...

when i try to load the driver manually with modprobe or insmod i don't get any error messages, but nonetheless dmesg repeats its chorus:

usb.c: USB device 4 (vend/prod 0x864/0x4102) is not claimed by any active driver....

with lsmod, i can se the driver but [unused].

as you maybe have noticed, i use the usb-uhci driver. haven't tested with uhci so far, but as i do not get kernelpanic, that should not be the problem?!

thanks for your help

Fabian
