I've just bought a second nic of the above type in order to put it on a long 
cable for an optimum position having already got one working. However, 
although apparently the same device part code, the device appears different 
(one less aerial, fixed USB cable to back)

Needless to say I can't for the life of me make it work even on the machine 
which has the other one working.

I'm using Mandrake 9.2

Syslog shows this on plugging in

I've noted the vendor/product IDs have changed


I've also tried the at76c503a driver to no avail. That detects the nic but 
will not report the MAC address. I've tried both usb-uhci and uhci with the 
same result. Hopefully will (when have time) try to recompile the kernel 
without USBFS support but as I'm not a very clever user this may take a few 
weeks to get right.

Has anyone seen this/solved it? Is there something that I could do (like 
adding vendor IDs to source?)
