Linux 2.6.4 and 3Com 3CRSHPW196

Support seems to be built into the kernel OK and everything looks good.
When I insert the card dmesg shows...

However, as soon as I do an "ifconfig eth0 up" the light goes off on the
card and "cat /proc/driver/atmel" returns:

Thats as far as I can get, it seems to sit on scanning with the light
off on the card (and no sign of activity logged on the AP). I saw a
similar post on this mailing list which suggested an upgrade to 2.6.3
could fix a similar issue on another 3Com card however I have teh same
problem with 2.6.3 and 2.6.4.

Any help greatly appreciated.
