No, when in master mode the AP310 appears to become an access point from the local output of iwconfig only, just like it's already documented. One last thing. I couldn't stand it anymore so i tore open the unit to verify it's chipset once and for all. the Intel AP310 FCCID EMJ-AP310 uses the atmel ap76c503A with an intersil prism HFAi3861BIN, so whoever automatically added the AP310 as using the ap76c503-i3861 module to the list should pat themselves on the back for being extremely clever in spite of my reports that it works with the i3863. once again thank you all and if anybody has any other questions about the unit i'm open to answering them.
