Broadcom Cards on 7.2 in HP DL360 G3

I have some HP DL360s with the Broadcom NIC in them, HP/Compaq model NC7781.
I am running Kernel 2.4.7-10enterprise, and the latest HP bcm5700 driver
which is 2.2.30 written by Michael Chan.

The cards do not always come up after a reboot.  Sometimes I have to do a
ifdown the intercace, rmnod bcm5700 and then inmod5700, ifup eth0,  
After that everything is fine.  

Any ideas?

My modules.conf has:
alias eth1 bcm5700
alias eth0 bcm5700
options bcm5700 auto_speed=0 line_speed=100 full_duplex=1
