Hello, just a tech. hint i require, have anybody came across any situation where your NIC card receives one byte less than data put on wire by remote host. like in my case my 82557 says 341 bytes as receive count for a bootp reply from a bootp server while bootp server sends a 342 byte packets as shown in ethereal and tcpdump log ..also 342 is standard size for bootp reply. below i a have pasted log of ethereal/tcpdump which sends 98 byte packet but my etherbot 82557 card reports only 97 byte packet( LAST BYTE 0x37 IS MISSING) ACTUAL LOG OF ETHEREAL OR TCPDUMP ---------------------------------- 0000 00 02 b3 26 16 97 00 50 ba 3c 5a 89 08 00 45 00 0010 00 54 46 6a 00 00 40 01 df ca 96 01 14 0f 96 01 0020 14 63 08 00 19 9c 29 34 10 00 da 5a af 3e 26 93 0030 0a 00 08 09 0a 0b 0c 0d 0e 0f 10 11 12 13 14 15 0040 16 17 18 19 1a 1b 1c 1d 1e 1f 20 21 22 23 24 25 0050 26 27 28 29 2a 2b 2c 2d 2e 2f 30 31 32 33 34 35 0060 36 37 PACKET DUMP BY 82557 ,etherbot polling mode driver --------------------------------------------------- 0000 00 02 b3 26 16 97 00 50 ba 3c 5a 89 08 00 45 00 0010 00 54 46 6a 00 00 40 01 df ca 96 01 14 0f 96 01 0020 14 63 08 00 19 9c 29 34 10 00 da 5a af 3e 26 93 0030 0a 00 08 09 0a 0b 0c 0d 0e 0f 10 11 12 13 14 15 0040 16 17 18 19 1a 1b 1c 1d 1e 1f 20 21 22 23 24 25 0050 26 27 28 29 2a 2b 2c 2d 2e 2f 30 31 32 33 34 35 0060 36 this is not merely case of bad reporting of receive count only rather last byte is actually not received as evident by dump of packet.
