Hello, I am not developing device drivers but I thought this would be the best group to answer my question. I have a problem with Intel ee pro 100 and Digital DS 21143 Tulip eth cards communication. I am running linux-2.4.19 on 2 linux clusters(of 5 nodes each)- as shown in the topology file attached to this mail in MS POWERPOINT format- compiled from the source distribution from kernel.org. The kernels have Andrew Mortons Low latency patch and in /linux/include/asm-i386/param.h - HZ has been modified to 400. there has been no other change made to the kernels. The computers of cluster 1 all have 4 Intel EEPRO-100 ethernet cards The computers of cluster 2 all have 4 Digital DS21143 Tulip ethernet cards. (pls see topology file) The computers within each cluster are communicating fine amongst themselves. Recently there was a need to interconnect both these clusters and after this, there is no communication on the links where a node from cluster 1 is connected to cluster 2. My e-mail will provide you with all details of one such interconnection - node1 of cluster 1 and node6 of cluster 2 which are directly connected by cat5 ethernet cable but are unable to ping each other, and there is no LED glowing on the ethernet cards pertaining to the link between these 2 nodes. the other ethernet cards which are connected to computers of the same cluster work just fine and LED's are glowing. I found your diagnostic programs on the web and I ran them on the 2 nodes. the only problem which I can see from the outputs is that all eth cards of node6(tulip cards) which connect to computers within cluster 2, have FULL DUPLEX link status but the eth card which connects to node1(of cluster 1 having intel ee pro 100 card) has HALF DUPLEX link status. But I guess if you see the output, you can tell exactly whats happening and how to correct this. I have also attached the outputs of ifconfig on node1 and node6. I have also attached the outputs of dmesg of the 2 nodes at the end of this mail. If possible, please let me know what I need to do to make the computers of cluster 1 communicate with computers of cluster 2. Your time and consideration are appreciated.
