I'm running a Tyan Tiger 200T motherboard with dual Intel 82559 controllers.  I am currently using only one of them.  I periodically (a few times a day) check the status of the eth0 interface with ifconfig.

Do the values reported by ifconfig for RX and TX bytes ever reset themselves?

Yesterday the TX bytes were several gigabytes, but today it is under 600 megabytes.  RX appears to be a little higher than yesterday as would be expected.

The man pages were no help.  Sorry if this is an inappropriate question for this forum.
