eepro100 works on windows but not linux

Hi,

I recently installed Red Hat 9 and compiled kernel 2.4.23 for my Sony
Vaio 505BX. It contains the Inte Pro/100 VE adapter.

Anyway, for both the 2.4.20 (original RH9 kernel) and the 2.4.23
kernels, the card can ping within the LAN but not outside the LAN.
I've already read a previous post where someone had similar troubles.
I know it isn't a router problem (but possibly _routing_ problem).
Anyway, eepro100-diag, mii-diag, and pci-config all show normal info.

Under Windows XP, I can do all normal net activities (ping, http,
etc). Under linux (either kernel) I can only pin inside the LAN. If
it's a routing problem, what's causing it? The second line (see
below) for route -n seems rather bogus -- if this is it, how does one
go about fixing it?

My own comments:
- I don't think it's a sleep mode problem
- It's not a problem at the router since the ethernet works under
Windows XP, but what do I know
- The card works fine transferring within the LAN under linux
