Have you tried the driver set from scyld.com?
It works around several known firmware bugs in the various eepro100
chips.

Very unlikely.  It's more likely that a long PCI burst transaction from
some other device is confusing the firmware on the eepro100.

That's an evil setting.  It's likely not causing this problem, but
force-full-duplex is Very Bad.

What does 'eepro100-diag -af' report when the chip hangs?
