Slow USSD

Hello,

I have wrote something that executes a USSD command upon reception of SMS.

The way the code is working right now is:
- Check for gammu-smsd pid.
- Kill it.
- Execute USSD command.
- Restart gammu-smsd.

There are two issues (like one and a half):
- Is there a way to avoid killing gammu-smsd:
Rationale: gammu-smsd can send messages (gammu-smsd-inject) and I'm
wondering if USSD commands can be queued like messages are..

But this is not a big deal, as I'm suffering this just on the testing
phase, I'll use different SIMs for SMS reception and USSD execution.

What will be a problem though, is the following:

- Executing USSD is slow (slower than it used to be):
From start to finish, it's waiting an average of one minute.
I'm wondering if there's any way to speed this up, for instance if
there's no prompting from the carrier, can it stop executing right when
it receives the response from the operator?

One minute for each message is a lot. Can someone point me to a solution
that's fast?

Thanks,
