Thanks for all the input!

I have experimented with gammu but so far I am unable to get the date
for sent messages. Wether from SIM or phone memory makes no difference.
Using getsms, getallsms or geteachsms makes no difference either. The
following is an example output (translated from swedish): 

$ gammu getsms 3 200 

Location 100200, folder "Inbox", phone memory, Inbox folder
SMS-message
SMSC-number     : "+46#########"
Sent            : thu 18 aug 2011 19:31:23 +0200
Coding          : Default GSM alphabet (no compression)
Remote Number   : "+46#########"
State           : Read

some text ...

$ gammu getsms 3 193

Location 100193, folder "Outbox", phone memory
SMS-message
Reference Number : 94
Coding           : Default GSM alphabet (no compression)
Remote number    : "##########"
State            : Sent

some text ...

I will take a look at .. ink .. 's code tomorrow and see what I can make
of it.
