gammu is working but gammu-smsd not

gammu identify is returning the right parameters, while gammu-smsd not, 
the configurations files are not much different, with the exception of 
port = /dev/null specified in the gammu-smsd configuration file, as 
indicated by the original documentation.

What happens in the terminal is the following:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ gammu identify
Device               : /dev/ttyUSB3

Model                : unknown (MF193A)

the same error happens when I type sudo gammu-smsd

What's wrong ?
