Modem vs. Phone?

I am using Gammu with an old Sony Erickson that cannont receive mms
(pictures). I called my T-Mobile -- my service provider -- a couple years
ago and they sent me a update that did not help. I really need to be able
to receive pictures so I was wonderting what would be the best plan of
action. Should I switch to a modem? Or should I switch to a different
phone. Is anyone can please recommend phones and modems that can receive
MMS images I would be greatly appreciative.
