that's expected because at some time Nokia removed the AT commands to
read and to delete SMS so the  recommended driver is 6510 / series40,
with the limitations you have seen

I think that it will work if you never access SMS from phone menus and
I think that
gnokii --reset soft
is enough to have the message database rebuilt but I haven't tested
all possible cases (it reboots the phone but it doesn't delete
anything AFAICT, but be careful)

we don't know if there is a better way to handle SMS in Series 40 3rd
and later, but maybe we can tell that by enabling more channels in
NK6510_Subscribe()
