gnokii smsd not giving me a clue as to why it is not sending and receiving sms'

I have managed to get gnokii smsd installed and talking to my usb modem &
mysql database (when I run the command below smsd gets my test message from
the db, all good). But the sms is not sent to the mobile (cell) number, note
I have replaced my actual number for posting purposes. In addition a sms on
the usb modem is not put in the database. 

However, there are no clues as to what the problem is because smsd returns,
without error, to the shell prompt. 

Any ideas?
