Well, I guess I report the same problems everybody else is
reporting with setting the hpoj software right now.

I get my scanner to work perfectly following the instructions
of the hpoj documentation. If I inactivate the ptal (ptal-init stop)
I get the printer section installed perfectly, however only
using the desk jet 3320 driver, not with hpijs 1.71,
which I downloaded.

However, once I have started the driver again (ptal-init start)
at the level of the ptal-print </dev/null command I get no
connection. Well, following the hpoj documentation it
seems I might lack libusb support for my SUSE9.1
hp-officeJet RPM-package (this is the newest on from
the SUSE-website, it solves the runlevel problem). However
SUSE claims, their RPM-package is compiled just fine
(TID-SuSE610 Set up a HP OfficeJet ("all-in-one" device)
12-MARCH-2004), even they do not explicidly refer to
libusb. Does anybody know the answer to this one?

Do I need ptal-print to do the printing with cups?
Or is ptal-cups the one to use? How do I get cups to
send the print data to ptal-cups, if that would
be the problem?

I guess, there should be somebody out there who
reads this and knows the answer. So I think, he (or she)
might just go ahead and write the answer down and send
it out. This would relieve a lot of people
from poking around with things they don't
understand.

With many thanks
