I've just followed instructions HP provided us and made a few
adjustment so that in Slackware you can do the same as for the other
distribution listed in the site.
I'm sure you can use a system spoolerless so you don't need cups, but
I think nowadays people are more condident in using their printers if
a spooler system works.
And I'm also sure that you don't need the possibility to print via the
net, but maybe others needs it. So try to install your usb-printer
without net-snmp and tell me how it goes: I will change instructions I
put on slackwareitalia.org
