I'm running debian unstable and installed (via apt-get) hplip version .08.7-2 and hpijs version 2.0.1+0.8.7-2. My HP OfficeJet k80xi is connected via a usb port. Under hpoj printing and scanning worked, but when I installed hplip (apt removed hpoj during installation) and followed the hplip setup instructions, I couldn't print. The HP device manager lists the printer with the "hp:/usb/hp etc." id. It's listed correctly in cups and the kde print manager as well, but test pages fail to print. Scanning doesn't work either, and the scanning option is greyed out in the hp device manager. (Printing isn't greyed out, but it still doesn't work.) For now I've removed hplip and gone back to hpoj, but I'd be grateful for any suggestions about how to get hplip to work.
