We are working to include HPLIP in the next SUSE LINUX version.
If no unexpected serious problems occur it should be included.
Additionally we try to keep HPOJ (package hp-officeJet) to be on
the safe side if HPLIP fails for some particular models (e.g. at
the moment parallel-port scanners are not supported by HPLIP).

Note:
At the moment nothing is "sure" or guaranteed.
You will have to wait until the next SUSE LINUX version is available.

Will HPLIP be also available for SUSE LINUX 9.2/9.1?

Answer:
No.
Reason: This would require changings of
- Ghostscript (because of the /usr/bin/hpijs conflict)
- YaST2 printer config (to support the 'hp' CUPS backend)
- YaST2 scanner config (to support the 'hpaio' SANE backend)
- YaST2 printer & scanner config (to set up the hplip deamons)
to have HPLIP well integrated.
I.e. a plain hplip package would be only useful for users who have
solid Linux knowledge and can set up their hardware manually
but such users can also compile and install it from the sources:
Note that
- since SUSE LINUX 9.2 the stuff in the PyQt and PyQt-devel
  packages has been moved into the kdebindings3-python package,
- there are several "hidden" requirements to compile and run it
  for which there is no error or warning shown by HP's configure
  script so that it is recommended to start with a default set
  of installed packages (e.g. standard installation with KDE),
- HP's init script for the hplip services may kill the cupsd
  because it runs as user 'lp' where SIGHUP stops it, see
