ot - ink mensuration

Sorry for OT but hp support cannot help me
I've to write software (well windows) that can read the amount of ink
Seems it's stored somewhere in the system not in the printer
- what is the printer language  - PCL ?
- is there any SDK for hp printers - I didn't find anything
- do you know where and how is stored, calculate the amount of ink ?
- is it standard way for all hp printers or can vary between models ?
