Yes  I did this.

% find /lib/modules/`uname -r` -iname "*ipw2200*" -print
/lib/modules/2.6.16.18-20060525133021-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2200.ko

I removed this ipw2200.ko manually. And tried again. Still the same problem.
